Here we are, once again, preparing for our July 4th fireworks!
2026 is year 8 and this is the place to find out
everything you need to know. 2026 is an especially significant celebration as we join Lewes 250 in celebrating America turning 250! This will be a red, white, and blue letter day in the First Town in the First State". Please be a part of it.
Thank you for the AMAZING, ongoing support for the Go Fourth Lewes community fireworks! We are thrilled to kick off our 2026 fundraising efforts with a $20,000 grant that the City of Lewes has generously awarded us as a non-profit. This is our first municipal support and our largest donations to date. Thank you!
We still need lots of donations to fund the fireworks and make the fireworks fly over the bay on July 4th. This need increases every year because our costs rise every year. We are approaching $100k for the 2026 show! This is up from $85k in 2025 and the cost goes up every year. We really need the help of all who love the fireworks.
As the old saying goes, many hands make little work.
Likewise, many donations make the fireworks fly, as well as making us work less and spend less time asking people to donate.
We are volunteers and truly grateful for your support and love of the fireworks. Go Fourth is permitted by the City of Lewes and works in cooperation with local government, law enforcement, fire, and support services, but the fireworks are not a City of Lewes or Chamber of Commerce event, and no single corporation hosts this show.
That's why we need you.
If you enjoy the show, then send a donation. It's that simple.
Please Click to visit our DONATE page.
We appreciate donations of any amount from locals and from visitors who come to Lewes for July 4th.
FOR THE PEOPLE! BY THE PEOPLE!
LOGISTICS UPDATE: Things are working well and running smoothly, thanks to the Lewes Police Department, Lewes Fire Department, and all the cooperating agencies who support Lewes on July 4th.
Still, there are huge crowds that come to Lewes on July 4th, and we ask everyone to read our Info and Viewing page, as most questions can be answered there.
Our best advice remains the same: PLEASE, arrive early, stay late, drink plenty of water, walk, bike, or view from areas in town, or other higher elevations. Try lingering longer on the beach after the show, p The traffic is the worst when everyone leaves at the end of the Fireworks at the same time. Vehicle traffic is held during the display, and for 30 minutes after, so no need to rush. Car traffic takes about 90 minutes to clear. You can sit on the beach or sit in your car in traffic. The beach is much nicer!
The fireworks have lots of high aerial rockets, so great
viewing spots can be found off the beach, if waiting is not an option for you.

The day ends with the Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks at dusk, but there are events all day long, all run by different groups of volunteers. We only organize the fireworks, but we love the entire day, so want to list everything in one place for the public. The schedule below details all the fun events in Lewes on July 4th.
Please Note: It is busy all day. Plan ahead and be prepared. Expect traffic and delays.
New for 2026, Second Street will close for the Kid's Games in the morning and remain closed until after the Doo Dah parade. The City of Lewes will have live music on Second Street to keep the fun rolling all day! St. Peter's Art Show is always on the Saturday of July 4th week, so it falls on the 4th this year.
Visit Lewes 250 for their schedule of special events on Independence Day and throughout the Summer of America's 250th birthday.
Check the Cape Gazette at www.capegazette.com the week before the 4th for a round up of all the Lewes July 4th activities. We have a small town Fourth that's hard to beat!
The Old-Fashioned Kid's Games are a great tradition that are enjoyed by kids of all ages. The games take place on Second Street. You can't miss it! Volunteers are needed, so contact City Hall if you'd like to help. Independence Day in Lewes | Lewes Chamber of Commerce
The decorated boat parade on the Canal is organized by the Overfalls and the Lewes-Rehoboth Beach Rotary Club, and it is sponsored by the Freedom Boat Club. It departs at 1:30 from the Inlet and makes its way to the bridge. Winners are announced at the Overfalls at 3:30.
This year, Harbour restaurant is partnering with Go Fourth Lewes by hosting a July 4th benefit for us! Contact us for tickets for this special July 4th luncheon and boat parade watching party from 12:30-3:30! Click here for details or tickets to the Harbour party

Once again, two great local hospitality icons are helping Go Fourth Lewes raise funds while hosting fun events for the public on July 4th! Thank you, Dogfish Inn and Harbour at Canal Square.
Dogfish Inn is selling canned cocktails to benefit the fireworks from 3:00 until? It's a great way to sit a spell and kick back for a bit on this busy day, all while enjoying a delicious Dogfish Head beverage that supports Go Fourth Lewes.
Harbour restaurant is partnering with Go Fourth Lewes again and hosting a July 4th Boat Parade Party benefit luncheon for the fireworks! This event is from 12:30-3:30. It sells out every year and advance tickets must be purchased.

The Doo-Dah Parade is a Lewes Independence Day staple. Ask different people about the Doo-Dah and you will get different descriptions. That is what makes it amazing! Thanks to the families who started and maintain this homegrown Lewes tradition! The parade leaves from Manila Ave down Kings when organizers are ready to Doo-Dah. We are not involved in the Doo-Dah Parade, except as longtime fans, attendees, and sometimes participants. There is no contact info or website for the Doo-Dah, but it traditionally lines up along Manila Avenue and the line of participants winds up Savannah Road. The parade starts when organizers decide to start and that is usually in the 4:30ish to 5:00 time frame.
This is it. Our big moment and the culminating event of July 4th in Lewes!
All fireworks information is on this page. Please donate if you love the Go Fourth Lewes Fireworks. Visit the Info and Viewing page here for advice on viewing the fireworks, getting in, getting out, staying safe, and more.
