During the Summer of 2017, after the State Fire Marshall notified Lewes that private fireworks would no longer be ignored or tolerated on our beaches, a group of local citizens formed an organization to bring State and City of Lewes permitted fireworks back to Lewes. We believe that safe and legal fireworks along our beach is the perfect ending to the Lewes' Old Fashioned Fourth of July festivities, which include games on Second Street, a boat parade on the canal, and the Lewes Doo Dah Parade.
Fireworks on the beach are a Lewes tradition. Go Fourth Lewes was formed to make sure we would always have fireworks on Lewes Beach on the Fourth! Our first fireworks show on July 4th 2018 was a huge event and the kickoff for this new annual tradition. We are dedicated to making the fireworks show better and better every year.
Go Fourth is managed by the Go Fourth committee, led by chairman Russ Palmer. co-chairs Paul and Debra Evalds, and Ted Becker. The committee also includes representatives from the City of Lewes, Lewes Chamber, Lewes PD, Lewes Fire Department, Streets Department, DRBA, State Park, and other agencies.
While we have full approval, great cooperation, assistance, and participation from the City of Lewes, the fireworks are not funded by the City of Lewes or any other entity. Our Donor lists on this page thank those who fund our annual fireworks, and all funding is from donations from local individuals, businesses, and organizations. Click to see our 2020-2021 supporters! Thank you for making the fireworks fly on the fourth!
PLEASE, if you watch and enjoy the fireworks, then donate. This show is for the people, by the people. We need you to make the fireworks fly over the Delaware Bay!
