***Viewing ideas are merely suggestions based on prior years. Please understand that fireworks are being launched from the water and the barge location may change slightly with tides, which can impact view.
Prime viewing should be anywhere along the beach, from Roosevelt Inlet to Cape Henlopen State Park. View on the beach or find a spot in town where you will have a good view of our high-flying aerial display!

We will be focusing on high aerial displays again this year, rather than ground displays, to ensure that everyone will get a great show from the beach or farther away.
There is presently erosion of the beach from some bad June storms. Some parts of Lewes Beach do not have the room they usually do.
Avoid the crowds on the beach if you have a birds-eye view in town or can spot a great viewing location on the drone pics below.

Be creative and find your own perfect spot in town to avoid beach traffic!
Plan ahead. Invite out of city friends and family to park and watch from your home if you have a view!

When planning the fireworks In 2018 we had Drone photos taken to project how far the viewing area might extend. Our test drone was spotted from the Lewes Boat Ramp at the end of Pilottown Road and people watched the fireworks from the boat ramp. Many people also watched the fireworks from points along Pilottown and Gill's Neck Road, and we have had feedback that the fireworks could be seen from higher elevations out through 5 Points and King's Highway.
Check out the drone pictures below to see how large the viewing area is. The fireworks are widely visible, as you can see from pictures submitted of our 2018 and 2019 fireworks.

Some people have expressed concerns about pets and fireworks. We listened. In fact, members of the fireworks committee are animal rescuers. We love our pets too! That is why we are strongly recommending that you leave your dog securely at home during the fireworks. While dogs are allowed on Lewes Beach after 6:30 pm, many dogs are frightened by fireworks. Dogs must always be on leash on Lewes Beach. Please see the links below for ideas on keeping your dog safe and happy on July 4th.
Unfortunately, more pets run off on this day than any other, especially dogs. Due to the increased traffic expected on the beach this could be a very dangerous situation. It's not worth the risk.
